Koron Mendez
Monroe Community College Liberty Partnerships Program Alumni
When did you graduate high school, and which high school did you attend?
I graduated from World of Inquiry School number 58 in 2019
What are you up to now?
I am attending Monroe Community College
How did you get involved with Liberty Partnerships?
Well my brother was already in the program and my mom thought it would be a great idea to sign me up since I needed help in a few subjects.
What are some of your favorite activities/programs that you did through Liberty Partnerships?
My favorite activities by far were the college trips. They took us to a lot of different colleges from Buffalo to Albany. The trips taught us about college life, classes, flexibility and becoming your own independent person.
Describe how Liberty Partnerships shaped your life both in and out of the classroom.
Liberty Partnerships Program helped shape me in many ways. They helped me become more independent and responsible with my work in class and outside of my education at work and church. They care about your wellbeing and the people are really interesting to talk to. They take their time with you no matter how difficult a task is or how difficult you are.
What are you most proud of?
I am most proud of the independent work I can do by myself now that I am out of high school. I am also proud of the connections and friends I made in the program.
What advice do you have for current students?
Go to tutoring for help if you feel like you need it and if you are doing bad go anyway don’t slack off and try a different time; try hard now. They really care about your success and that is why they are there.
What does community mean to you?
Community means people around each other who care for each other in any way possible and will do most anything to see them win and uplift them in any way.
