2020
What is the name of the school you attended?
Dunkirk Senior High School
What are you up to now?
Enrolled in the Art Program at Fredonia State University and working part time at Applebee’s.
How did you get involved with Liberty Partnerships?
One day I noticed it was on my schedule during sophomore year and then I never wanted to leave it.
What are some of your favorite activities/programs that you did through Liberty Partnerships?
Attending JCC for two summers, and being in a community within the school community that was as passionate about my education and success as I was.
Describe how Liberty partnerships shaped your life both in and out of classroom?
I went from this anxiety prone nobody to being noticed and cared for by these amazing people. I began to have self esteem and pride when I would get help with my education and see my grades go up. Because of LPP, I was able to graduate, be at the top 20% of my graduating class, take college courses, and feel at home in a place that was never home to me before. LPP gave me a place to go to during school time, to get away from people, where I could get help with homework, or work on my art, or just talk to Miss Kate when I needed someone to talk to. LPP creates relationships and a foundation for success for the future.
What are you most proud of?
All of my achievements through LPP, high school, and now college.
What advice do you have for current students?
Life is hard sometimes, but you have to just push through and see the beauty from the pain. You’re going to get knocked time and time again. But you have to rely on yourself and know that you will be ok. Life is too short to worry about temporary sadness or stress.
