The Power of Advocacy

NYS Friends of Liberty Partnerships, Inc. (FOL) serves as the unified voice of the Liberty Partnerships Programs across New York State. Through strategic outreach, relationship-building, and informed action, FOL elevates the needs of our students, families, and partnering institutions at both state and local levels.

Working alongside LPP sites/projects, FOL  helps to ensure that programs have the resources, recognition, and support necessary to deliver high-impact academic, social, and emotional services. By engaging policymakers, collaborating with education and youth-serving organizations, and sharing both data and student stories, FOL advances policies that strengthen  outcomes for young people statewide.

Youth in Government Day

At Youth in Government Day students meet directly with legislators and civic leaders to advocate for education funding and student support services while sharing their lived experiences and goals.

Students who participate are eligible for credits towards a seal of civic engagement.  Learn more here.

Because LPP sites operate within diverse institutions and communities, a coordinated statewide advocacy effort is essential. Together, LPP and FOL work to build a stronger, more responsive system of support for the students who need it most.

Hero Campaign

In the summer of 2025 we traveled across New York State recording students performing to the song, in our own moving rendition.  

'Everyday People, Everyday Heroes' is a year-long celebration of those moments of courage, kindness, and resilience that shine through in everyday life. Together, we honor students, alumni, staff, and community members who step up for others in big and small ways—and show that heroes are all around us.
